Maritime Security Training

OAM provides a full suite of Maritime Security training that is in accordance with the International requirements of the ISPS, and that complies with Australian Legislation - Maritime Transport and Offshore Facility Security Act 2003 (MTOFSA).

OAM conducts courses in partnership with Challenger TAFE in the following formal courses:

• Port Facility Security Officer – PFSO
• Offshore Facility Security Officer - OFSO
• Ship Security Officer - SSO
• Company Security Officer – CSO

The OAM/Challenger ISPS courses for SSO/CSO have been AMSA approved, and as such the SSO/CSO Certificate lists the STCW-95 code.  In order to receive this qualification all attendees have to meet the relevant pre-requisites; providing a copy of relevant record of qualifications of “approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months or appropriate seagoing service and knowledge of ship operations”

These courses are conducted at regular intervals at Challenger TAFE in Fremantle, Western Australia.

Alternative Training Options.  For companies or individuals that may not be able to attend in Perth, OAM also offers a range of more flexible options such as;

• One-on-One training over a shortened two-day period,
  either at the OAM office or the attendee’s office/accommodation
  (within the WA Perth metro area).
• ‘In-House’ training for a minimum of 4 attendees, at company facilities. 
  All travel related cost for an instructor would be in addition to the course fees. 
  Additional costs for the Trainer will be incurred,such as travel and
  accommodation, on an ‘at cost’ basis.

In addition to these formal course OAM offers Online Awareness Training course that assists company’s to comply with Maritime Security Legislation obligations for the conduct of Security Awareness Training.

MARSEC Online is for any person or business working or interacting within the Maritime Industry either directly or indirectly.  It provides the participant an awareness of security threats and an overview of security policy relating to the Maritime Industry in Australia;

• Maritime Industry Participants
• Maritime Security Industry Card holders (MSIC)
• Businesses or Individuals visiting/working in the maritime environment
  

These packages are offered at two levels: 

• General MARSEC Awareness.  This is a 20 minute General Maritime
  Security awareness package related to the ISPS and Australian Legislation.
  This is information suitable to train all Maritime Industry Participants in their
  awareness obligations under the ISPS code and Maritime Transport &
  Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003 (MTOFSA).  $50 + GST per user.
  Marsec 1 Level 1 (20min): http://msa.itra.com.au/
• Supervisor MARSEC Awareness.  This is a three (3) hour training
  package that is aimed at Supervisor Level personnel with security related
  responsibilities and covers in more detail Maritime Security related to the
  ISPS and Australian Legislation.  This is not full qualification training as an
  appointed Security Officer under the ISPS.  $90 + GST per user.
